President’s Message

Shalom, January 2008

The Holidays are now over and I hope everyone and their families had an enjoyable Hanukah and safe New Year. For those of you who were not at the last Shomrim meeting or the Hanukah Party this is my first Presidents message since being elected. To bring everyone up to speed, we also have a new board in place.

The following are the new officers for the Shomrim Society of Nassau County:

President- Alan Hirsch

First Vice President- Gary Shapiro

Executive Vice President- Bob Glassman

Corresponding Secretary- Saul Roth

Recording Secretary- Larry Feffer

Treasurer- Howard Friedberg

Sgt. At Arms- Bob Gally

Trustee- Sam Livingston

Trustee- Cheryl Garber

Trustee- Monty Gerbush

Trustee- Ken Zwerling

Immediate Past President- Scott Bresalier

Good & Welfare- Georgia Green

Legal Advisors- Mike Elbaz & Steve Miller

Chaplain- Rabbi Barry Dov Schwartz

It’s never too early to start planning ahead so mark your calendars not only for our next meeting, but also for Sunday, April 13th for our annual Passover Food Drive. Anyone interested in becoming more involved is this worthy and rewarding endeavor please call or email me ASAP. Also don’t forget Sunday May 4th is our Shomrim Breakfast back at the Woodbury Jewish Center.

We have a lot to discuss at our next meeting and I hope we can start off the New Year with a great turnout. While I have some ideas for Shomrim going forward this organization needs the support and input from all of our membership. If you haven’t been to a meeting in a while please stop down. If you know of someone who has never been to a meeting please extend an invitation to attend. If everyone makes a concerted effort to bring just one other person with him or her we would be off to a great start for the New Year. Our membership is small so everyone is needed to help make a difference.

I hope along with your other New Years resolutions you renew your commitment to Shomrim and actively participate. Hope to see everyone on January 24 th.

Fraternally,

Alan
